The brighter days produced by the change of seasons always prompt a sense of optimism and renewed energy, nowhere better expressed than in our homes. This is the time of year where we crave a declutter combined with colours that evoke exotic getaways and easy relaxation. Long summer days are the ideal opportunity to recreate a sense of relaxed escape at home, with schemes that hint at the slow-paced joy of a sunshine-filled afternoon.

As ever, the sofa is the natural focal point of every living room scheme, either anchoring its colour palette or prompting its decorative direction. This season’s key looks revolve around confident furniture and colour pairings - and here we share some of our new favourite schemes.

Like favourite jeans paired with a classic ruby lipstick, an unexpected dash of red has timeless appeal, elevating the everyday into the unusual. Evoking a sense of informal chic, casual chenille denim upholstery can be given a sophisticated twist thanks to a deep burgundy lamp or stool, as well as architectural elements finished in rich red.

Evoking the joy of high summer, Morello cherry tones are paired with powder blue via a saturated approach, for a fresh take on confident colour combinations. A sofa and footstool in a chunky-but-simple silhouette is key to this look, providing a contrast  to graphic pattern repeats in wallpaper and curtain fabric.

Texture, colour and contemporary shaping collide to create relaxed living-dining spaces, where every element is playfully aligned for a look that feels integrated and intentional. Combine evocative seasonal tones such as ocean blue with hard-wearing but informal finishes, like chenille, for a scheme that evokes easy, high summer living.
