This SS26, I wanted to signal a return to real life - comfort, curation, and genuine connection. In a world overflowing with endless inspiration and AI-generated imagery, the moments that matter most aren’t watched - they’re lived. These SS26 interior design trends celebrate homes as places for snuggling, sharing unhurried downtime, and expressing individuality. Through everyday rituals, each space can bring human connection back home, making interiors both beautiful and effortlessly liveable.

Heritage Refined

 Heritage Refined

The timeless charm of William Morris is back, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens that balances heritage with comfort. By removing curtains to celebrate period windows - or using decorative window film for softer light - you let the space breathe naturally.

A restrained palette of almond, caramel, and elderflower yellow creates restful atmospheres, while the Mayfair sofa’s scatter-back silhouette replaces bulky scroll arms for elegant simplicity. Morris Honeysuckle & Tulip wallpaper paired with cushions featuring gentle leaf motifs keeps spaces authentic and comfortably curated.

Antiques and inherited pieces shine in rooms that allow them space to sing. This summer home decor  approach is less about adding more and more about knowing what to leave out - showing restraint is the new luxury.

Pattern Play

Pattern Play

For those who love patterns but feel hesitant about how to use them, this look offers a confident starting point. The key is balance. Anchoring expressive motifs with generous blocks of plain colour, and introducing contrast through scale, tone and texture. Think of it as curated clashing; intentional, not accidental.

Summer 2026 invites a more colourful, playful approach to the living room, one that celebrates comfort alongside character. Here, a spectrum of patterns is layered to full seasonal effect: basket weaves, harlequins, distorted ginghams, scalloped silhouettes, painterly abstracts, broken stripes and sun motifs sit together with ease. While varied, they’re all grounded by a softly curved teal sofa with a slim profile - the Portobello.

A traditional, symmetrical art hang would feel too formal for this space. Instead, artworks are gathered into a single, loosely arranged cluster. Mixing styles deliberately, a bold abstract beside a detailed painted canvas, creates energy, while an offset salon-style arrangement keeps the grouping relaxed-yet-cohesive.

What ultimately holds the room together is restraint. A limited colour palette and carefully considered negative space between elements. The result is a living room that feels balanced yet bohemian - expressive, cohesive and effortlessly cool.

If you’re searching for summer decor ideas that embrace colour without chaos, this approach captures the joyful confidence shaping spring summer trends while remaining beautifully liveable.

Sofa-scaping

Sofa-scaping

If the sofa is the heart of your home, sofa-scaping - designing the room around one intentional piece - is a game changer. Choose a sofa with playful silhouettes and undulating lines; one statement piece can define the scheme.

Set bravely against the grandeur of a period backdrop, this approach refreshes heritage interiors without defaulting to traditional styling. It invites everyday comfort while feeling modern and expressive. I recommend a colour palette that blends past and present - ginger, stone and eau-de-nil, bringing warmth and balance to the scheme.

What defines this space is its simplicity and self-assurance, layered with a subtle sense of luxury. The Waldorf sofa’s sumptuous sherpa upholstery sets the tone, while elevated finishes such as burr wood, translucent resin accessories and softly pleated detailing add refinement and depth, finessing the overall look.

In a world of summer interiors, sofa-scaping offers a fresh way to rethink summer decor - proving that one beautifully chosen piece can transform the entire mood of a room.

Sun-kissed

To capture that first British sunshine after winter, I leaned into earthy russet tones, demonstrating they work year-round. The Fitzrovia range, with its velvety curves and playful silhouettes, anchors this relaxed-yet-stylish look.

Elevation comes through considered curation: a glossy side table, touches of marble, warm oak parquet, abstract forms and softly playful polka-dot motifs add depth and interest without overwhelming the space.

What I love most about this room is that it doesn’t feel precious, overly coordinated or overly designed. It’s liveable and relaxed, achieved by blending soft and richer tones, anchored by a mid-tone, salmon-pink paint backdrop that gently connects the scheme. Sun-bleached terracotta tiles, dusky sunsets and warm sand hues are reimagined here at home, creating a tranquil, stylish space with the easy energy of a Mediterranean retreat.

For those refreshing their summer home décor, this sun-kissed palette delivers warmth and escapism. A timeless take on summer décor that feels both nostalgic and new.

This is tradition, but not as you know it and I hope you love it as much as I loved designing it.

Sun-kissed

Ultimately, spring summer 2026 interior design trends are about homes that feel lived-in, personal, and full of connection. From reimagined heritage interiors to playful patterned living rooms, statement sofa styling, and sun-kissed earthy palettes, each space invites comfort, creativity, and individuality.

These rooms aren’t just for showing off; they’re for living, sharing, and enjoying. As you style your home this summer, remember: the most beautiful spaces are the ones where life truly happens.
