Papyrus - Support Office's chosen charity

When we asked our Sofologists last year which causes they’d like to support, the response was overwhelming. Our colleagues from across the business told us that they’d like to help charities that worked to aid young people. We wanted to make a difference to causes in our local area - tricky to do when you have stores all across the country.

To solve this we split into regions, each nominating their own local charity. Both our Support Office and South Central region chose Papyrus - the UK charity for the prevention of young suicide.

Let’s get fundraising

Our Sofologists had a good wardrobe detox, bagged themselves a few bargains and helped to raise money for a cause they’re passionate about.

Aiming higher

In Feb 2020 a group of our customer service colleagues decided they wanted to take on a challenge in support of Papyrus. Braving the cold weather and taking on the climb, they set out to conquer Snowdon. Taking sponsorship from Sofologists across the business, they set out on their trek, successfully reaching the summit and returning safely.

Generous customer donations

It’s not just Support Office that has embraced the challenge of raising money for Papyrus. They’re also the chosen charity for our South Central stores and Sofology customers have shown incredible generosity. With the facility to add a donation via Pennies when paying for their order, we have seen customers embrace the chance to support a local charity and a worthy cause.

The total so far

At the time of writing our fundraising efforts have raised a total of £6,658 so far. This money will be used to:

• Keep Papyrus’ helpline HOPELINEUK running so they can help more young people in need. 
• Provide research packs aimed at supporting teachers. 
• Contribute to training people in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills
